L'événement - The Event
Join us on February 22, 2018 for an evening of unique and rare whiskies in aid of the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital.
Throughout the evening you will also enjoy fine food prepared by Chef Jean-Michel Baudenon to enhance your whisky tasting experience. The Mount Royal Club is proud to be associated with Normand Laprise, chef owner of Toque! who has provided guidance in design of its new 5-star kitchen and who shares the same fresh market suppliers.
About the Neuro
The Neuro has been caring for people since 1934. Originally created with a bench to bedside approach toward understanding neurological disease, this tradition remains at The Neuro today. Clinicians and researchers continue to work hand-in-hand to enhance our ability to offer the best care in the best possible environment for patients and their families.
The population of Canada is growing. The incidence of certain neurological diseases is on the rise, particularly as the general population ages. More doctors are referring patients to The Neuro because of the specialized neurological care that we provide. And, more patients, suffering from neurological disorders such as ALS, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, brain tumours, and epilepsy, are seeking out our services on their own.
While most patients come from the Greater Montreal area, it is not uncommon for families to travel long distances and from remote areas for specialized care that is unavailable in their hometown or because of the reputation and skills of our Neuro caregivers. An estimated 40,000 people come to The Neuro on an outpatient basis every year. And, each year, this number increases by 10%. We must be prepared to accommodate the growing number of patients, ensure access for those who need our services, and provide our caregivers with the tools they need to do their work.
Preston Robb Neuro Day Centre
The Day Centre at The Neuro is used by more than 6,000 patients each year, who undergo a day surgery (not requiring hospitalization) or visit in order to receive intravenous medical treatment for diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Patients are cared for by a team of dedicated nurses who administer these crucial treatments. As visits to the day centre typically last 8 hours or more, we are always searching for additional funding to help make the space and experience as positive for patients and families as possible. This includes covering financial costs associated with items such as space renovations, wheelchairs and beds, IV pumps, and entertainment services, such as loanable iPads, craft kits, etc.
